Reading the current interiors trends during these lingering times of austerity I come to realise that the vintage look is where many are most comfortable.

I remember taking to a psychologist back in 2009 who explained to me that, when times are hard, money is lacking and work is thin on the ground, interiors fashions revert to the traditional and antique. The reasons being that when we are threatened we crave what is comfortable and warm and reminds us of our grandparents home. This of course also makes great sense as "things were made to last in the olden days!!" and of course buying old is usually cheaper.

This look is easy to create and a great deal of fun to put together. The background colours of room fashions currently are warm neutral tones accented with one or maybe two colours. Many of the paint websites such as Dulux, Farrow and Ball etc help with matching your colours. The main fun is accessorising. LOVEHOOKS of course will help with a whole host of hooks and coatracks which are decorative as well as practical, and inexpensive to chop and change. We have a unique range of antique/period hooks some made from old Indian print blocks. Other great places to go are eBay,Gumtree, Car boots,Antique shops, charity shops. T K Max is a must, even Matalan. In Gloucester there is a fabulous spin off from TK Max called Home Sense based at St Oswalds Retail Park. Here  you can buy glass, furniture, cushions, artificial Flowers all with up to 70% off the original High Street Prices.

In the next few days we will be uploading some more period racks...so keep an eye out and be ready for adding great conversation pieces to your home...
